Spud Has Arrived in Wisconsin and Is Looking for His Forever Home

Spud arrived in Wisconsin and is currently settling into his foster home with Mutt Life Dog Rescue. He is doing well and is now ready to find a loving forever family.

Meet Spud
Spud is a 5-month-old mixed breed puppy who is ready for a fresh start. He and his brother, Sprout, were originally found as strays and ended up in an Arkansas shelter before getting the chance to travel to Wisconsin for a better future.

Despite his rough start, Spud is a happy, loving puppy who enjoys being around people. He has a playful, friendly personality and, like most puppies his age, he is curious about the world and always ready for fun and attention.

Spud does well with other dogs and kids, and with proper introductions and time to adjust, he will likely do well with cats too. He and his brother are believed to be Lab/Shar Pei mixes, which gives them their extra squishy, wrinkly and adorable look.

Since Spud is still a young pup, he will need help learning the basics such as crate training, potty training, and leash manners. He is at the perfect age to learn and grow with his new family, and with patience, consistency, and love, he will make a wonderful companion.
Spud currently weighs about 35 lbs and is ready to begin the next chapter of his life with a family who will help him continue learning and growing.

1.) Apply: Fill out an adoption application completely and submit all necessary documents.

2.) Application Decision: approved applicants will be notified via phone call and email.

3.) Foster-to-Adopt Trial Period: After approval, you have the opportunity to do a meet and greet and bring your dog home! You get a 5-day foster-to-adopt (FTA) period to make sure it's the right fit.

4.) Final Decision: By the end of the FTA period, please let us know your final decision to adopt or return the dog to our rescue.

5.) Home Visit: After the adoption process, we conduct a home visit either in person or via Zoom meeting to ensure that everything is going well with the transition and to answer any final questions you may have.

6.) Neuter/spay for puppies: for dogs who are not fixed at the time of adoption, we will reimburse for the procedure once we receive proof of spay/neuter. The procedure MUST be done at HAWS Snip Clinic in Waukesha, WI, or Wisconsin Community Veterinarian Center in Madison, WI. If you would like to go through your veterinarian or another location, we will reimburse $125 once we receive proof of the procedure. We recommend spay/neuter around 6 months old.
