Meet goldie
Goldie is a one-year-old, 50-pound lab mix who was picked up by a shelter. Poor Goldie was so frightened that she had to be carried out of the shelter when we went to get her. At the vet, she was so shut down that the vet techs sat on the floor and hand-fed her. The exam and X-rays the next day revealed a bullet casing and shrapnel in her shoulder. That explained a lot for this girl who was so afraid she could barely move. Luckily, the bullet will not be an issue in the future. While in the clinic, they noticed that when another dog was around, she seemed to calm down. The next day, they put her with another friendly female in the yard together, and it was like magic! They romped and played, and we realized then that her confidence would come from having another dog in the home. She is in a foster home where she has many dog friends and is thriving. She’s opening up quickly to the people and is crate-trained and housetrained. Goldie is sweet and totally worth the effort, but a work in progress.
