Milky Way is a Shih Tzu/toy Poodle puppy. He is an affectionate, gentle ShiPoo who truly just wants to be close to his people. He’s playful and curious, but he’s equally happy curling up nearby for a nap. He has the softest, curly coat and the sweetest expression. He loves attention and bonds quickly, always checking in to see what you’re doing.

He will thrive in a home that enjoys interacting with their dog and will continuing his training. He’s growing into such a loving, loyal companion. Milky Way sleeps in an indoor playpen and is starting to sleep overnight, with an early wake up. Another feature of Milky Way is he can sleep absolutely anywhere in any position and loves to nap through the day. Milky Way is learning about potty training. He goes outside frequently, and gets treats and praise for outdoor success. He has used a bell cue at the door and is learning the routine but will need continued consistency working on it. He is learning quickly, so it shouldn’t be long.

He is good with other dogs and cats and cars. He is food motivated. Note - Milky Way may bark and try to chase at the cats but not all the time and has never tried to hurt them. He responds well to redirection Milky Way is incredibly affectionate. He loves to provide nonstop kisses - that’s just who he is. He truly wants to love and be loved.

He also might be the most flexible sleeper ever. He will sleep anywhere, in any position (stretched out, upside down, folded in half) completely content as long as he’s near you. He brings such a warm, sweet presence into the home.

A Quick but Important Note to All Adopters:
Please remember that none of our dogs arrive fully trained. Most come from tough or uncertain beginnings and may have never lived in a home or known basic routines. That means:

✧ They are not potty trained on arrival. Most dogs regress in potty training when moving to a new environment.

✧ They may lack basic manners (like leash walking or appropriate chewing).

✧ They’re learning, growing, and doing their best—but they will need patience, structure, and compassion to succeed.

The majority of these pups have lived in the confinement of a cage or kennel run for most - if not all - of their lives. Because of this, we strongly discourage the use of crates for anything other than vehicle transport. They deserve the chance to decompress and learn what true freedom and comfort feel like.

Our amazing foster homes work hard to start these dogs on the right path, but they are rescues, not finished products. These dogs need time, consistency, and a loving home willing to meet them where they are.

Also, breed designations are our best guesses based on appearance and behavior. We can't guarantee breed, size, adult weight, or coat type.
