Meet tigre

Since I'm a long stay pup, my adoption fee has been reduced! Visit me today to find out my favorite treats and how you can take me home!Meet Tigre!Tigre came to us as a stray with unknown history. Since arriving, she has shown herself to be a highly energetic and very anxious girl who is still adjusting to the shelter environment. In new spaces, Tigre becomes overwhelmed and seeks an exit, often pacing, bouncing between handlers, and struggling to settle. Despite her stress, she is food motivated and does seek interaction, showing that she is interested in people even when she's feeling unsure. My Ideal HomeTigre is looking for a calm, structured, adult-only home with experienced adopters who are prepared to work on anxiety and impulse control using positive, reward-based training. She will need predictable routines, clear boundaries, and gradual exposure to new environments to help her build confidence. Enrichment activities, food-based training, and patience will be key to helping her learn to settle and focus. Tigre will do best with someone committed to helping her decompress and providing steady guidance as she adjusts to home life.Good with Kids? Not recommended for homes with children under 13. Due to Tigre's high anxiety levels, poor impulse control, and difficulty settling, an adult-only home is recommended at this time.Good with Other Pets?History with other pets is unknown. During assessment, results around dogs were inconclusive due to her elevated stress levels. Careful, slow introductions to any resident pets would be essential.Behavior DeterminationLevel 3 - Tigre has displayed high anxiety, difficulty settling, and poor impulse control in the shelter. She requires an experienced, adult-only home prepared to provide structure, decompression time, and ongoing positive reinforcement training.Other Fun FactsTigre is very food motivated, which will be a helpful tool in her training journey. With patience and consistency, this bright, energetic girl has the potential to learn new skills and build confidence with the right support.A volunteer writes: Meet Tigre, the "Branch Manager of Queens ACC". (You'll see why). This sweet, adorable brindle girl has been overwhelmed in a shelter environment, and living in a pop-up crate since her arrival over two months ago (due to shelter overcrowding); but that doesn't stop her from having a good time. She greets me with a waggy tail and the sweetest puppy-dog face; and I love watching her happiness level go from 1 to 10 as she spots the plush toy in my hand and excitedly takes it before I've even fully opened her crate door. She carries it for her entire walk, then lies down with it when returned to her crate.Tigre really enjoys playing in the yard - galloping around with her toy like a little horse and playing a gentle game of tug with her humans. And if she finds herself toyless? Well, she'll just pick up a tree branch if one happens to be lying around and carry it with her as she did on a recent walk - despite it being twice the length of her body! There she went briskly down the street with her oversized and lopsided branch dragging along the sidewalk. We don't know Tigre's history, but she's really sweet, seems to be housebroken, is highly treat-motivated, and responsive to squeakers. With time to decompress and acclimate to her new life, I think Tigre will make a wonderful member of the family. My Boroughbreaker writes: Tigre was great! she is very active and loved a long walk. she was also active in the house and played with toys a lot, but she calmed down after a little bit. she loves being around people. tigre is a great, fun, energetic girl!
