Meet Bruno (ACCT-A-230436)! This quirky little senior is ready for a soft place to spend his golden years.

At a perfectly petite 34lb, Bruno walks nicely on leash, is house trained, and will go in a crate (even though it's not his favorite thing). He knows sit and paw already, and he loves treats, so he'll likely be eager to learn more!

Bruno's what we call a sneaky senior or a "fake senior" - he has way more energy than you'd expect from an old guy! He loves zoomies, jumping up for treats, and can catch treats out of the air like a pro.

Bruno was surrendered to ACCT in February 2026 due to not getting along with the other dog in the home. His family reported issues with resource guarding (food and toys) and some stranger danger. Due to all of these factors, he's looking for a calm, patient household where he can get the guidance and support he needs to thrive.

✨ BEHAVIOR
Per volunteer 2/19/2026: What a silly boy! He's a total fake senior, with way more energy than you'd expect for a small senior. He's jumpy, happy, and loves a treat. He's also great at catching and knows sit and paw! He has the funniest little underbite and platypus paws. Love this little guy!

Behavior eval 2/19/2026:
Kennel Presentation: Calmly laying in his kennel (side bank) with soft eyes and a relaxed body/face. Took a treat nicely through the kennel door.
Leash Skills: Minimal to moderate pulling on leash (pretty negligible due to his small size) through the kennels and outside. Walks nicely along when guided with very light leash pressure/handler walking.
Sociability: Social and handler-oriented in the yard. After sniffing around briefly, he began to get zoomies, getting a bit jumpy with me but easily deterrable with a treat scatter. He peed quickly outside and knows sit and paw. Allows handling all over, will make some space by walking away on his own when he's done and run off into zoomies. Jumpier and higher energy than you'd expect for a small senior.
Play: Chased toys, but did not possess. Enjoyed running around the pen with handler.
Dog Interaction: Saw several dogs through the fence with no reaction. Had a fence meet with Hugo and sniffed with a high tail and neutral body, then disengaged after a few seconds.
Return to Kennel: Hopped right in.
Color Level: Exp gold
Recommendations and considerations: Bring treats for scattering if he gets jumpy

Per volunteer 2/18/2026: I took Bruno out Wednesday night and had a very nice time with this senior boy.
Bruno was easy to leash, and is a loose leash walker. He's an owner surrender, and definitely trying to stay house trained.
He had nice sniffs through the fence with medium-sized dog Lola, so we proceeded to a leash meet and both did well. He wasn't really interested, but he was well-mannered with her. They both kind of walked away when the other lost interest.
In the yard, he wasn't interested in the stuff toy I tossed nor the ball, but he did like the treats. He was receptive to pets but he didn't solicit pets. He knows sit and he knows paw.
He was not difficult to return to his surgical kennel. His kennel behavipr is very good. He's usually calm, sometimes just laying down resting and watching.
He is a sweet little dog and just looking for a home to spend his golden years.

Playgroup notes 2/17/2026: Good gate greeting, high tail, Mounting

Per staff 2/13/2026: Bruno is the sweetest gentleman. He allowed all handling. takes treats very gentle. crawled on my lap and even gave me a few cheek kisses. Bruno knows sit and shake commands. his body was very loose and tail wagging while getting pets. allowed another staff member to pick him up and put him back in his cage with no problem. he just wanted attention and to explore a little. He did not care for the other dogs below him barking in his face, but he didn't try to get their cage or anything. little to no restraint during vet check.
