Sophie is a tiny 15 year old Maltese Poodle mix weighing just under 8 pounds. She is polite gentle and very sweet. Her favorite place is simply near her person. She coexists well with other small dogs and has an easygoing presence.

Sophie came into rescue when her owner could no longer care for her. It took her a few days to adjust but she is settling in beautifully and showing her soft affectionate personality. Her eyesight is good and her hearing is still fairly strong for her age. She does have a heart murmur but is not on any medication at this time.

She doesn't love being left alone so we are hoping to find her a calm quiet home where someone is around most of the time. Sophie is a lovely little soul looking for comfort companionship and a soft place to land for her golden years.

ADOPTION PROCESS:

1. You must begin our adoption process by applying to adopt on clawsadopt.org. Please do NOT inquire via Petfinder, social media messengers or in our comments. We will only be looking at applications!

2. Please make sure you fill out our adoption application COMPLETELY. We may not be able to respond to applications that are not completely filled out with the proper information. Side note: on our applications, the more details you provide = the better.

3. We prefer applicants live within 60 miles of Closter, NJ. (Applicants who live farther away may still apply. However, please note we do prioritize local applications as we try our best to serve our local community first.)

4. Please respect our organization, our volunteers and our process. As a reminder, our organization is a nonprofit. We receive no money from the state. We have no paid employees! This is a polite reminder that we are doing our best to make the right decisions for the animals in our care. Thank you.
