Meet Max, your future best friend with a heart as big as his paws. Max is a 5-year-old black Lab mix, weighing in at 71 pounds of love. This tall, lanky good boy came to us through no fault of his own when his family lost their housing. While his world changed, Max’s sweet spirit never did. We promised his family we’d find him an equally loving home—and we know it’s out there. Max is a high-energy, super friendly guy who’s been reported to be wonderful with kids, cats, and other dogs. At the shelter, he shows his polite side—quiet, gentle, and well-mannered—but don’t be fooled. Once outside, he’s ready to run, walk, play fetch, splash in water, and hop in the car for an adventure. He’s strong on leash, but also submissive, easygoing, and incredibly affectionate. Max has a signature move: he’ll lean right into you for hugs and pets, soaking up every bit of love. Previous owners report he is housetrained, and it’s clear he’s truly missing home life.The holidays are tough for everyone, and Max’s journey is a reminder that you never know what hardships people are facing. His family made a heartbreaking decision out of love, and we’re grateful they trusted us to help Max start his next chapter. Max is available through our Foster-to-Adopt program, so you can welcome him home while he completes routine vetting, including vaccinations and heartworm testing.
