Meet Ivy!
A gentle, shy girl who is slowly discovering that the world can be a safe and happy place. She’s been making wonderful progress in her foster home, showing her personality in little “microbursts” as she gains confidence each day.
● Sweet, gentle, and sensitive
● Slowly coming out of her shell and building confidence
● Doing well with her potty routine — happily runs outside to the grass and back in
● Has started showing playful curiosity, even interacting with the household cat
● Loves being part of the daily routine, especially waiting in the kitchen with the pack during meal prep
● Gets very excited at mealtime and happily runs to her crate
● Enjoys relaxing time with her people, like hanging out together on the porch
Things to know:
● Still a shy dog who needs patience and time to feel fully comfortable
● Her crate is her safe place and helps her feel secure
● Will thrive in a calm home that allows her to blossom at her own pace
Ivy doesn’t need big adventures — just a patient family who will celebrate her small victories and give her the love and security she deserves as she continues to grow in confidence.
***FLIGHT RISK***
Will need to be leashed 100% of the time for several weeks, until she really settles into her new home and routine. This includes in a fenced in yard and in your home.

Old Dominion Humane Society (ODHS) Adoption Process
- Complete our Adoption Survey on the Adopt page of our website at https://www.olddominionhumanesociety.org/adoption-survey to expedite the process and arrange a meet-and-greet. Expect a response within about a week; please check your spam folder. As we're 100% volunteer-run, your patience is appreciated!
Requirements And Donations
- Required Adoption Day Items: A martingale collar and a non-retractable leash (available for purchase at ODHS).
- Adoption Donations: Puppies (under 1 year): $375; Adults: $275; Seniors (age-dependent): $175; Select dogs: $500. We accept cash, debit, and credit cards.
- Adoption Radius: Within 350 miles of Fredericksburg, VA. A $50 out-of-state fee applies.
- Breed Identification: Dogs are listed as "Mixed Breed" unless formal documentation is available.

- Visit our adoption center at 3602 Lafayette Blvd, Fredericksburg, VA 22408 during adoption hours: Wednesday 5-7 PM; Friday 6-8 PM; Saturday 11 AM-3 PM; Sunday 11 AM-1 PM.
