There's nothing quite like the fun of a Terrier's silliness...and then they put their beautiful heads quietly on your shoulder breathing their warm breath. These super-smart and very loving and loyal young dogs are so pure and vulnerable that it's unbearable to think of them in a high-kill shelter with euthanasia pending due to lack of space or on the terrifying streets alone and hungry.

Sushi, at just about 4ish years old and a tiny 8 lbs was facing the end of her life before it ever began. Farfel's Texas rescuers are compassionate and loving and couldn't turn their back on this very sweet girl with the great temperament. They rescued Sushi just in the nick of time to spare her life.

Sweet Sushi is starting out with great energy. The excellent results of her temperament-testing ended with a transport ticket to Colorado and a new life. She's also very beautiful with gorgeous dark eyes displaying wisdom far beyond her years.

Sushi has the potential for a gorgeous coat. Sadly, her hair is currently shelter-tired but once on a regular protocol of care, it will be stunning with good health. Sushi will require a lifelong commitment to periodic grooming and great nutrition (5 star food and a salmon oil supplement are excellent regimens for general longevity and hair care) to keep her coat super- healthy and shining.

Sushi is appropriately playful and inquisitive for her age. She's also so loving and cuddly. She would be very excited to be a couch potato and snuggle with her favorite people at the end of an active day. She's also SO smart and engaging - very typical of a Terrier mix Many would say theTerrier breeds are among the most loyal and engaging in the dog world.

Since Sushi is just a young pup, she's a blank slate just waiting for a kind and patient human to show her the way. She has all the potential in the world to be an awesome family companion. Sushi will form firm bonds with her family (as well as other dogs and humans) and learn positive socialization skills through virtual or in-person positive reinforcement training classes. This training experience will make a profound difference in a dog's behavior and their relationship with their people. It does take time and commitment yet pays off a thousand times over when you have a dog that can accompany you out in the world with excellent behavior.

We feel very strongly that every dog and their family deserves the opportunity for formal, positive reinforcement training classes. We therefore aren't willing to adopt Sushi out to a home that doesn't choose to offer her this training opportunity. Farfel's is happy to provide a list of approved virtual or in-person positive reinforcement / force-free trainers in your area.

We're open to Sushi finding her forever home with a retired couple or individual with lots of energy to train and enjoy a silly and super-smart pup. Sushi enjoys her relationships with all humans and dogs, we would prefer however, to place her in a home with older kids only (tail pulling or rough treatment by young kids will create an adult dog that's fearful of children). Older kids can be active participants in a training regimen and friendship that's so important in a dog's development. Sushi enjoys her relationships with other dogs as well and would love playing hard and enjoying the sunshine with a canine friend on a beautiful day.

Sushi will be up to date on her vetting/vaccinations to be in line with our commitment to adopting out only healthy dogs. She has also been spayed in our quest to make a euthanasia-free future in the canine population a reality.
