Meet Donatello! This handsome lad is a lively, high-energy pup who’s always ready for his next adventure! He’ll thrive in an active home that can provide plenty of daily exercise, playtime, and enrichment to keep his busy mind and body happy. Previously adopted just 6 months ago, Donatello was surrendered due to a family member’s allergies. His past owner noted that he can be a bit of a “vacuum,” sometimes eating things he shouldn’t, so he’ll benefit from supervision and appropriate chew outlets. He’s described as hyperactive but has done well living with children, making him a fun and engaging companion for an active family. Donatello is both crate trained and house trained, giving him a great foundation for success in his next home. He would do best in a cat-free household, as he tends to chase them, he may bark when he sees dogs on walks but is treat motivated to be redirected away. With structure, outlets for his energy, and a little guidance, Donatello is sure to make a loyal and entertaining best friend!

Donatello is an absolute gem. He is the perfect mix of energetic, loving, and fun! We took him on a couple good walks/hikes and he was a champ. It's seriously hard to imagine a better trail dog. The best part was that after a long walk, he came back to the house, drank a bunch of water, and flopped down on the floor for a post-hike nap. What more could an active person want?

He is very people and dog friendly! With all his energy it can be hard to contain his excitement, so he may jump up when saying hello - especially if they had a drink in hand (haha!). Everyone knew he was just being overzealous, but it's still something he will need to be trained out of doing. With other dogs on leash, Donatello would sometimes jump and bark in excitement, with his tail wagging behind. He just needs to work on his dog manners!

He loves his people and seems to be very loyal. He often just wants to be in the same room with you, or within his eyesight. Working in the kitchen? He'll lie down there. Move to the living room? Same. He likes to be near you but also likes his space. On the second night we had him, he initially jumped on the bed with us but after our insistence that he move onto his dog bed, he agreed once he realized he'd have more space there. Each night he slept on a different bed side, close enough to keep eyes on us while having enough space to sprawl out.

All in all, we fell in love with Donatello. He is a beautiful dog, full of love, affection, fun, humor, energy, and spirit.
