Foster Needed: Meet Junior, a lovable 1½-year-old American Bulldog who is looking for a medical foster home where he can finally kick back, relax, and enjoy being someone`s dog for a while.Junior has spent much of his young life growing up here at the Cuyahoga County Animal Shelter. Through it all, he has remained an incredibly sweet, eager-to-please companion who has thrived with training. He loves working with people, picks up new skills quickly, and is always excited for the chance to show off everything he`s learned. At this time, Junior is experiencing lameness in one of his rear legs and will likely require surgery in the near future. Our goal is to place him into a foster home before his procedure, so he has the opportunity to settle into a home environment, establish a routine, and recover comfortably after surgery.During his recovery, Junior will have activity restrictions, and all medical care—including surgery, follow-up appointments, and medications—will be provided by CCAS. Foster families simply provide the love, transportation to scheduled appointments, and a quiet place for him to heal. Because his medical limitations have prevented him from enjoying regular play and socialization for some time, we believe Junior would do best as the only dog in the home during his foster stay. Historically, he has done well with female dogs and has even made several male dog friends, but for a smooth recovery, a calm, solo-dog household is ideal.One other important note: Junior has a funny habit of treating small stuffed toys like snacks instead of toys, so he`ll need a home that`s temporarily free of plush toys. Junior is everything we love about shelter dogs—affectionate, resilient, intelligent, and incredibly deserving of a chance. After spending so much of his life in a kennel, he`s more than ready to trade concrete floors for a cozy couch, daily routines, and the comfort of a family.
