Pike is one of the Spencer County hoarding dogs taken in by GRRAND in late 2024, and this beautiful girl had made incredible progress since arriving at the kennel. She is a 4-year-old, approximately 50-pound Lab/Golden mix with a soft heart and an even softer spirit.

 This girl is a Gentle Soul Ready for Her Second Chance! She has waited for so long for her turn, and we are happy to report she is in a foster home and she is doing great!

They say "Pike is ready for her fresh start! She’s had a tough beginning, so she’s still very shy. She wants to meet people, but she’s not quite brave enough for pets yet. (see below May update) Pike does great with other dogs and would thrive in a home with a confident, stable canine companion who can help show her the ropes and demonstrate that love from people is a wonderful thing. Having another dog to lean on will help Pike continue building her confidence. She’s sweet, gentle, housebroken and crate trained. Such a good girl who just needs patience and love to truly shine. May update: "She is continuing to make progress and get more comfortable! Seems happy always wagging her tail and loves to spend time outside in the yard. She is great with other dogs and still a bit timid with new people, but once she knows you will warm up. She's seeking out pets from her foster mom and is confident to go upstairs!"

While Pike is still a bit nervous as she continues to learn that the world can be a safe place, she’s come a long way. She happily accepts treats from volunteers and absolutely loves being petted once she feels comfortable. Her sweet nature truly shines through when given patience and kindness.

Because Pike is a flight risk, a secure, above-ground fenced yard is required, and a home without small children would be best for her comfort and safety.

Pike is ready for a loving home with a family who understands that healing takes time—and who can offer the patience, compassion, and unconditional love she deserves. In return, Pike will reward you with quiet devotion and a heart full of gratitude.

A beacon of hope shines bright as GRRAND and animal advocates across the commonwealth collaborate to help rescue animals trapped in a devastating hoarding situation on a rural County Kentucky farm. Advocates eagerly await justice for the abused animals and the swift rescue of those still suffering in inhumane conditions. 

It's awful to think of the terrible lives and abuse they have been subjected to. A litter of 4 week old puppies were found on the property and all had to be treated at the Emergency Vet for Parvo to save their lives and sadly, one did not make it. We have extremely high vet expenses for these dogs and really need ongoing donations to pay for all their care and we are also in desperate need of foster homes for these dogs.
