Meet bayou
Sweet Bayou will turn 2 years old on December 1st and is hoping for the best birthday present of all — a forever home full of love and companionship! He’s a wonderful combo of goofy and affectionate, and he considers himself a lap dog despite weighing in at 70 pounds.
At his foster home, Bayou is learning manners and commands and is making progress every day. He genuinely wants to do the right thing - he is food motivated, so treats come in very handy for training purposes! Bayou loves toys, enjoys playing with his canine companions in his foster home, and he’s equally happy curling up for a nap with his favorite humans.
Bayou was born in a crowded shelter and was adopted as a puppy but was returned to the shelter when he grew bigger and the family no longer wanted to care for him. Returning to the shelter was confusing and scary for him, but despite that, Bayou hasn't lost his love for people or his enthusiasm for life. He simply needs a nice steady routine and a family who will continue with his training and help him to regain confidence. We think Bayou would do best in a home with at least one other friendly, playful dog.
Bayou is house trained, neutered, microchipped, crate trained, and up to date on all vetting. He is ready to find a family who will love him for exactly who he is. If you’d like to make Bayou a member of your family, please email
