Meet Buddy — A Little Gentleman with a Whole Lot of Love to Give!At 12 years young, Buddy is living proof that the best things in life come in small, senior-sized packages. This handsome male Chihuahua mix weighs 10 pounds and was born on December 18, 2014. He came to us as an owner surrender through no fault of his own, and after being passed around more than any dog ever should, Buddy is ready for something he deserves more than anything else in the world: a loving, stable home where he can finally stay forever. Buddy is a spunky, social little gentleman who still has plenty of pep in his step. He loves meeting people and has been good with children of all ages. And when it’s time for a walk, watch out! Buddy prances down the sidewalk like a tiny show horse, showing off his fancy footwork and reminding everyone that he may be a senior, but he’s still got style.Unlike those busy young puppies who seem to have endless energy and questionable life choices, Buddy has mastered the art of enjoying the simple things. A cozy spot to snooze, a comfy place beside his favorite person, and some quality time together? That sounds like his idea of heaven. He walks nicely on a leash, and his previous owner reports that although he hasn’t been crated, he isn’t destructive when left home alone. Buddy is an easygoing companion who doesn`t ask for much beyond love, comfort, and someone to call his own.Buddy hasn’t lived with other dogs or cats, so we don’t yet know how he would do sharing his home with them. He seems unfazed by the dogs walking past him at the shelter, which is encouraging. As always, a meet and greet is required with your dog to make sure everyone gets along. There is something truly special about senior dogs. They have a quiet sweetness about them, a gentle way of making a house feel like home, and a gift for reminding us that happiness can be as simple as sitting together in a sunny spot. Buddy has already experienced more changes than any dog should have to endure. Now it’s his turn to be someone’s beloved companion, to settle into a soft bed, to enjoy leisurely walks, and to know that he will never have to wonder where he belongs again.Buddy is available through our Foster-to-Adopt Program. This means you can welcome this sweet boy into your home while he completes his veterinary care, including vaccinations, heartworm disease testing, and microchipping.Senior dogs are true gems, and Buddy is a little treasure just waiting to be discovered.
