If you see a pet here, they are still available for adoption and you should apply through our adoption application on our website at  https://www.arf-il.org/adopt/application/   Cookie is a 4 month old male Shiffon who weighs in at 4.5 pounds. This pup's adoption fee is $850. If you are still interested, please read more below. Meet Cookie! Cookie is an adorable pup who is just starting to figure out this whole puppy thing — and it’s pretty sweet to watch. He’s curious about his new world and is learning things many puppies already seem to know, like what toys are for, how to tackle little steps, and whether treats are actually worth all the hype. Every day seems to bring something new for Cookie to discover. Cookie likes knowing his people are nearby and prefers hanging out in the same room, although he’ll sometimes keep a little distance while he takes everything in. But once you scoop him into your arms or put him on your lap, that independent streak disappears — he turns into a complete cuddle bug who is perfectly happy being held. He’s generally a pretty calm little guy, but there’s definitely a playful puppy hiding in there! Cookie LOVES being outside and has already surprised his foster family with a few very enthusiastic cases of the zoomies. He’s been wonderful with children ages 7 and up and hasn’t yet been around younger children. Cookie is making good progress with potty training and is starting to develop a pretty predictable routine. His foster family takes him outside about every four hours, and he typically needs to poop about 2–3 hours after eating. He’s still very much a puppy, though, and carpet sometimes looks like an acceptable potty spot to him — so his new family should be ready to continue helping him learn! At night, Cookie has been doing great in his crate and keeping it clean. His last potty break is usually around 8:30 p.m., and he’s been able to make it until about 6:00 a.m. He may bark when the crate door first closes, but given a little time, he settles down. Cookie is comfortable wearing a harness and is still figuring out what he thinks about walking on a leash. Like so many things right now, it’s a work in progress! Cookie has only been in his foster home for a short bit, so his personality is still unfolding. Right now, he seems to be a sweet, gentle little pup who just needs some patience and encouragement while he learns that the world is a pretty fun place. If you’re looking for a little sidekick who will explore the backyard, surprise you with the occasional zoomie, keep an eye on you from across the room, and eventually melt into your lap for cuddles, Cookie might be your guy. This pup is micro-chipped, up to date on all vaccinations, and neutered. The new family will be required to complete a basic obedience course of their choosing.  Please note ARF does not approve applications for any puppy under 6 months of age to families that live outside of Illinois and/or beyond 100 miles of Wheaton or Glen Ellyn, IL.  A meeting will not be scheduled until you have an approved application, so if you're interested in adopting this pup fill out an online application today!  https://www.arf-il.org/adopt/application/  Once your application has been approved, an ARF volunteer will contact you to arrange a meeting.  ARF is an all volunteer organization.  Due to a high volume of applications, we are often unable to respond to questions until your application has been approved.  Thank you for your patience!  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.   Thank you for considering a rescue pet from A.R.F.-Animal Rescue Foundation!
