Meet Gideon! Gideon's story is one of the darkest we've heard. He was kicked down the stairs by his owner's husband. Gideon’s mom rushed to find him unresponsive, with his back unnaturally twisted. When the husband came after her, she managed to grab Gideon and lock herself in a bathroom with his broken little body until help arrived. Miraculously, Gideon survived and made his way to us, a literal safe Haven. We never expected him to be so joyful, but Gideon stepped right into his new life with ease. And this sweetie is move-in ready. He’s FULLY potty trained, has no food guarding, has excellent cuddling skills, enthusiastic participation in nonsense, and he’s even a genuinely lovely walking companion. He does have some big feelings about suspicious men operating lawn equipment, which is fair. Gideon gets nervous riding in cars and does not enjoy being left home alone. Strange sounds and people also may startle him. He sleeps well through the night and enjoys going for leash walks, especially if there are squirrels to chase. He is currently recovering from some skin irritation caused by fleas (the fleas have since been evicted) and an ear infection. He may have environmental allergies that will benefit from long term cytopoint or other similar treatment. Gideon has plenty of energy and loves to play. He can see and hear well and has no problem going up and down stairs. He's hoping his new home will have a fun and playful canine companion, a fenced yard, plenty of squeaky toys, and humans that are around quite a bit so they can take him on walks and give him snuggles. He had a lot of uncertainty in his past, so he'd like a calm, quiet, environment with a routine to make him feel safe. If you have love and patience to help this little doll leave his dark past behind, he'll be your best friend forever. Gideon is approximately 8 years old and 11 lbs.
