Meet cookie
My dad adopted Cookie 4 years ago when she was 2. He was admitted to the hospital in May, and has not been able to care for himself, let alone the dog, since. My partner, mother and I have been caring for Cookie since then, and Cookie has been very happy with us. She's got lots of room to run around in the woods and explore all the smells. The problem is that my mom is very afraid of large dogs, and she's no longer willing to accept having Cookie here. Cookie is a good dog; she's eager to please and takes direction very well when expectations are clear. She is quite sensitive and nervous though, and wasn't very well socialized while she lived with my dad. She's uneasy when strangers come to the house, and has a tendency to growl and herd them around a bit. She's doing a lot better than when we first got her, but she definitely needs a calm, supportive environment and would certainly benefit from some training that I'm not qualified to give her.
