Meet sweet Tawny, a beautiful black-and-tan Yorkshire Terrier who has been retired from a puppy mill and is now discovering what it truly means to be part of a family. Tawny is currently in a Misty Eyes foster home, where she is learning that life is about so much more than being a business asset. Because she had very little socialization in her former life, Tawny is initially shy and somewhat frightened. But she’s a quick learner, and she’s making wonderful progress!Tawny is learning all kinds of new things—good house manners, potty training, going potty in a grassy area instead of on concrete or in a cage, walking on a leash and, of all things, watching TV! She’s discovering that being a beloved companion can actually be pretty wonderful.Tawny’s ideal home will be with a patient, understanding family who will give her the time, encouragement and gentle guidance she needs to feel safe and confident. A fenced yard would be ideal, and another well-balanced dog would be a wonderful friend and mentor for her as she continues to learn the ways of a happy family dog.Tawny has already come so far, and with the right family, we know she’ll continue to blossom.
