Meet Millie!

A spirited approximately nine-month-old English Springer Spaniel/German Shepherd/Siberian Husky mix currently in Vancouver, WA, whose essence is a joyful whirlwind of curiosity wrapped in a tricolor coat.

This medium-sized girl is a “super-mutt” built for fun, with DNA showing 34% English Springer Spaniel, 25% German Shepherd, 16% Siberian Husky, 4% Australian Cattle Dog, and 3% Great Pyrenees. At about 45 pounds, Millie brings working-dog energy, cleverness, and personality to every day! She is looking for an active family who can give her plenty of exercise, enrichment, and opportunities to put her clever mind to work.

Millie adores other dogs and needs a new loving home with a playful canine companion who can help her romp, wrestle, and burn off energy. Based on her daycare experience, her pet parent feels she can do well with dogs of different ages and sizes. A fenced yard will give her room to play, although supervision is important because this enthusiastic explorer enjoys digging and sampling interesting things she finds outside. She should live without cats, since chasing them is too tempting. Her compatibility with children has not been assessed.

After the action winds down, Millie becomes an affectionate couch cuddler who loves being close to her people! She is also the resident toy queen and will happily empty her toy box in pursuit of chew toys, squeakers, and favorites for a game of fetch. One especially charming quirk is the adorable head tilt she gives when someone talks to her!

Smart and treat-motivated, Millie knows sit, lie down, and high five. She is house-trained and even rings a bell when she needs to go outside! She is also crate-trained and loves her cozy space so much that her family affectionately calls it her “apartment.” She even sleeps there with the door open. When exciting play is happening, she can become frustrated about taking a break and may get mouthy. Her family has found that redirecting her to a toy, turning away, or giving her a brief opportunity to settle in her crate helps her calm down. Her new family should understand adolescent play-mouthing and be ready to continue building her skills through patient, positive reinforcement training.

Millie is spayed, microchipped, and current on vaccinations. She has a sensitive stomach that is currently supported with probiotics and she receives dental chews.
