waylon *courtesy post*

This is a courtesy post for Greater Hillsdale Humane Society:Waylon is almost 4.5 years old and has been in our care since March 21, 2025. He is neutered, up to date on vaccinations, microchipped, heartworm negative, and his adoption fee has been fully sponsored. He is VERY potty trained, non-destructive in his kennel, knows “sit” and “shake,” and absolutely loves hiking and spending time outside. He can be nervous during car rides, but he has made a lot of progress with regular outings. As the Director, I’ve been taking Waylon on regular hikes to give him a break from the shelter and an outlet outside of his kennel. These outings have become a huge part of his routine and have been incredibly beneficial for him. Unfortunately, with hunting season approaching and colder weather not far behind, I know I won’t be able to get him out nearly as often as I do now. That’s especially concerning because after being in a kennel for this long, we’re beginning to see shelter life take a toll on him. I really don’t want to see what another winter with fewer opportunities to get away from the shelter does to him.Waylon does need to be the only animal in his future home, which has made finding the right adopter more difficult. He also takes daily fluoxetine for anxiety. We’ve shared Waylon with our local audience many times, so now we’re hoping to get his face in front of people outside of our normal reach. We aren’t asking for anything other than a share. If you’re willing to post Waylon on your social media page, share his information with your followers, or pass him along to anyone who may be a good fit, it would mean so much to us.Somewhere out there is a home where being the only pet isn’t a dealbreaker—it’s exactly what someone is looking for. We just need to reach them.Hopefully you can help this guy get out of his long shelter stay soon. If you are interested in him, please contact:MeganShelter Director517-523-23083881 S.
