Name- Poppy, AKA - Poppy Girl
Age- Approx. 5 years old
Breed- English Bulldog
What was your life like before NDCB/Where did you come from? I came from a puppy mill where I spent my entire life in a concrete kennel, making babies. My eyes were not in the best shape because this Mill also does their own cherry eye surgeries. Unfortunately, I did have to lose one of my eyes, but I got to keep my other one and though it does have some damage I can still see.
Who is your main caretaker/favorite person now? My foster mommy and daddy but I get along with everyone I meet!
Are you good with kids? What age ranges? Yes! I don’t live with any kids but my foster parents have people over often and I love everyone i meet!
Are you good with other dogs? Be VERY specific here - I currently live with a large pack of dogs ranging from small to medium size. I did try to show dominance to one of my fur siblings but it only happened once. I think it was just settling in here. I’ve now been here over a month and have no issues with all of the dogs here.
Are you good with cats? I’m not sure what cats are.
Are you housebroken? What is your current potty routine? I sleep in a kennel at night and have only had a couple #2 accidents in the beginning. I am kenneled from 8-2 while my foster parents work and I do great! I love to go outside to potty in the fenced in yard, I hate going potty on a leash. Now that I have been here over a month I am 100% accident free!!
Do you like car rides? I think so - I’ve only done it on my freedom ride!
Do you like walks? How are you on a leash? I am learning the leash. I just don’t like to go potty when I’m on a leash. I don’t pull so I guess you could say I’m good on a leash!
Do you like toys? What is your favorite toy? My foster family has lots of bones around the house but I’m not sure what to do with them.
Do you know any commands/tricks? We’re working on basic commands. I know what “kennel” means!
How are your house manners? I’m a loveable lady who enjoys basking in the sun, playing with my foster fur siblings and treats. I’m quiet in my kennel and rarely make a peep.
Describe your personality- I have a hard time seeing sometimes but that doesn’t stop me from living my best life! I’m happy, I love being petted and I do a little jump when I get excited. I eat my dog food in my kennel so no one steals my kibble.
Describe your perfect home- I would love a house with another dog and someone who’s patient with me while I perfect my house broken skills. I am missing one eye and have trouble seeing out of my other so I’d prefer a home with minimal stairs! I love laying in the sun so a fenced in yard would be nice!


The Rescue has done extensive vetting for me. I was spayed and had a hernia repair as well as a dental eye surgery and a nose job. I am all ready to go now!
