Meet mr. pickles

Mr. Pickles A18749850 lb. neutered male, approx 1 year old-This handsome boy has lived in a home and reportedly lived with small dogs and cats. As with any dog coming from the shelter, slow introductions and time to decompress first will help him feel comfortable and set him up for a smooth transition.-He walks nicely without pulling and enjoyed exploring the yard, occasionally coming back to check in for some pets or snacks. He was a little unsure of the traffic outside, but once inside he came over to the blankets to spend some time with me. He sits for treats and takes them very gently, and when he’s comfortable, he’ll happily give kisses. He wasn’t interested in toys during our time together.-When I sat down in the chair, he came right over and jumped up beside me. He really seems to be looking for some reassurance and connection. I think this sweet boy is going to shine once he’s out of the shelter and has a patient person giving him the time he needs to settle in and feel safe.-And can we talk about that adorable underbite?! Those little teefers sticking out to the side are absolutely precious! 😍-Seems non reactive to dogs nearby and may do well living with a fur sibling after slow and proper intros Unknown behavior with dogs/cats/kids•Meet all of our adoptable pets on our website friendsofdacc.org/adopt •Please keep in mind that the shelter can be a very stressful environment. •Studies show that a minimum of 3 days decompression drastically lower stress hormones and allow the dog to show more personality after they have settled in. •There is a suggested donation of $100 for our dogs, payable by cash, check or through paypal at the time of the adoption. •To meet them please go to front door and a DACC staff member will assist you with adoption or fostering. **And when coming to meet one of our dogs, please bring all the humans with you, but leave any current dogs at home. Staff will go over how to slowly and properly introduce them after a decompression period.** •The shelter is open 7 days a week from 10:30-5:30, except for Wednesday when we open at 11:30**We ask that if you’re looking to adopt, you arrive before 5:00 to be able to have enough time to meet the dog. **1431 E Ferry St. Detroit
