Meet nissan

Hi! I’m Nissan! I’m a 2-year-old, 10-pound Rat Terrier, and yes, I’m named after a car! I may be small, but just like a Nissan, I’m dependable, ready to go places with my favorite people, and happiest when I know I’m in good hands. I’m a sweet little guy with plenty of personality who loves my people, backyard playtime, and cozy evenings at home.

Favorite Things: Nissan loves playing in his fenced backyard with his foster brother, getting attention from his people, and taking long naps. He is an excellent TV-watching buddy who enjoys curling up nearby or joining you on the couch for cuddles. Don't forget to have a selection of toys for him to choose from!

Training & Manners: Nissan is eager to learn and responds extremely well to positive-reinforcement training. He knows “touch” and is working on “up” and “down,” and he is comfortable and happy in his designated napping area, especially when given a frozen Kong toy. He is currently on a strict potty schedule of every couple of hours and will need a family that can consistently stick to that routine.

Health & Care: Nissan is neutered, up to date on vaccinations, and microchipped. Like any dog, he will need to remain on regular heartworm and flea prevention.

Other Animals: Nissan loves playing with other dogs, and another playful dog could be a wonderful companion for him, although not required. He has not been tested with cats.

Children: Nissan should do well with older, respectful children who understand that he may need some time to warm up. He does best when allowed to approach new people and situations at his own pace.

Ideal Home: Nissan would thrive in a single-family home with a securely fenced yard, as he is currently nervous about leash walks away from home and is most confident in his backyard. He will also need a family that is home more often than not, as continued training, consistency, and patient encouragement will be important in helping him build confidence. His ideal family will be patient, calm, and committed to helping him learn at his own pace.

Overall: Nissan is a wonderful little homebody who can be cautious about new situations, but he makes great progress when given time, patience, and encouragement. Once he trusts you, he is affectionate, playful, eager to connect, and ready to be your loyal little sidekick

Think Nissan might be the one for you? If so, visit www.PoodleandPoochRescue.org; if it seems like a good match, his foster family will be in touch. His adoption donation is $350
