Meet Tilly!

Tilly is a beautiful young Poodle mix who is just beginning to discover what it means to feel safe, loved, and cared for. At 30 pounds and still filling out, she is larger than the typical Miniature Poodle but smaller than a Standard Poodle in size.

Tilly was found wandering the streets of Detroit by our rescue partners at Detroit Pit Crew. She arrived scared, severely matted, and unsure of the world around her. Life clearly hadn’t given this sweet girl many reasons to trust people, but despite her difficult beginning, Tilly is slowly learning that not all humans are bad.

She is a quiet, gentle girl who is gaining confidence and blossoming a little more every day. Tilly isn’t looking for a busy household or a family expecting an instant social butterfly. She needs patient people who will allow her to experience new things at her own pace and celebrate all of those little victories along the way.

Because too much activity can be overwhelming for her, Tilly is seeking a quiet, adult-only home. She has done well with other dogs, particularly those who are calm and lower energy. A confident, well-adjusted canine companion may actually be beneficial, giving Tilly someone to learn from as she figures out how to simply be a dog. She has also been around cats and pays them little mind.

Tilly enjoys her crate and considers it her safe space. She is very food motivated, which is understandable for a girl who once lived on the streets without knowing when her next meal would come. Food has also become a wonderful tool for building trust and helping her learn.

Leash walking is still completely new to Tilly, so a securely fenced yard will be required in her forever home. This will give her a safe place to explore, gain confidence, and learn without the pressure of navigating the outside world on a leash before she is ready.

As a Poodle mix, Tilly will require regular professional grooming throughout her life to keep her coat healthy and comfortable.

Tilly is still a work in progress—but that is part of what makes her so special. Every day, a little more of her personality emerges. She is learning that meals arrive every day, her crate will always be safe, gentle hands can bring comfort, and she no longer has to survive on her own.

Tilly doesn’t need someone to rush her. She needs a patient, caring family willing to give her the time, consistency, and kindness she deserves. In return, they’ll have the privilege of watching a once-frightened little dog discover just how wonderful life can be.

Tilly survived her past. Now she’s ready for someone to show her what it means to be loved furever.

OUR FOSTER ANIMALS ARE LIVING IN FOSTER HOMES AND TREATED LIKE FAMILY UNTIL THEY FIND THEIR OWN FUREVER FAMILIES. OUR ADOPTION PROECESS REQUIRES AN APPLICATION TO BE COMPLETED AND APPROVED BEFORE A MEET-N-GREET WITH THE ANIMAL CAN TAKE PLACE. ADOPTION FEES ARE NECESSARY TO HELP US COVER VETTING COSTS FOR OUR RESCUED ANIMALS.
