Meet Chip! 💙

Chip is a handsome 4½-year-old, 40-pound medium-sized mixed breed who is looking for a special person willing to give him something incredibly valuable: time.

When Chip first arrived at the shelter, it was pretty clear that the world felt like a big, overwhelming place. He was anxious, unsure of his surroundings, and needed staff to move slowly and patiently with him. Even while he was scared, though, Chip allowed our team to handle him and complete his initial care when we took things at his pace.

Chip has been identified as shy and undersocialized, which means he may need more time than the average dog to become comfortable with new people, places, routines, and experiences. He isn't looking for someone who expects him to walk through the door and immediately know how to be the perfect family dog. He's looking for someone who will celebrate the little victories—the first time he chooses to come closer, the first relaxed nap, the first tail wag, and eventually, the moment he realizes he's finally safe.

At about 4½ years old, Chip is past the wild puppy stage, but he still has plenty of life ahead of him to spend with the right family. He's already neutered and ready to begin his next chapter.

Because Chip can be fearful and overwhelmed, we're looking for a home with children ages 8 and older who can respect his space and allow him to build confidence at his own pace. If you have another dog at home, a meet-and-greet is required before adoption so we can make sure everyone feels comfortable together.

Chip may not be the dog who shows you everything he has to offer in the first five minutes.

But sometimes the relationships you have to earn become the most meaningful ones of all. 💜
