Waygu is a friendly, social guy who apparently never got the memo about “stranger danger.” He loves meeting people, soaking up attention, and being included in whatever his humans are doing. If quality time is your love language, Waygu is your guy! This active boy has discovered that his happy place is outdoors. He has absolutely loved getting out for hikes and adventures, and having a positive outlet for his energy has made a big difference for him. Keeping his body and mind busy has helped curb some of the anxiety and destructive behaviors he can experience when he doesn’t have an appropriate outlet. Waygu is potty trained and will whine at the door when he needs to go outside. He is also crate trained. He does have some separation anxiety that can show up as barking or chewing on household items when left alone for long periods of time. He would do best with a family who can provide him with companionship, enrichment, exercise, and plenty of positive outlets. He loves attention and has no issues with handling. He knows sit, down, shake and okay. Overall, he walks great on a leash but may need some redirection if things get super exciting! His favorite toys are definitely the kind made for chewing! He has been wonderful meeting both men and women, though we don’t know if he has lived with children. When it comes to other dogs, Waygu can be a bit vocal and tends to bark, but he has not shown aggressive behavior. He has reportedly done better with off-leash interactions - though this is not something we are able to accommodate in shelter, appropriate dog introductions are important and should always be taken slowly! He also has a high prey drive, so he should not be adopted into a home with small animals. If you’re looking for a friendly, adventure-loving companion who would much rather be out exploring the great outdoors with his people than sitting on the sidelines, Waygu might just be your guy!
