Meet suzani
Meet Suzani! šš¾
Location: Troy MO
Adoption Fee: $325
Suzani is a sweet 7-year-old Yorkie who has had quite a yearāand now, finally, itās HER turn. After everything this little girl has been through, she is ready to leave her past behind and begin the peaceful, loving life she deserves.
Suzani entered rescue on March 1st after being rescued from an auction. At 7 years old, she was the oldest Yorkie there, and we knew she deserved a chance at something much better. We thought she would spend her time settling into retirement, being pampered, enjoying cozy beds, and soaking up lots of love.
But Suzani had other plans.
What we didnāt know when she entered rescue was that this sweet little Yorkie was expecting puppies. Instead of beginning her retirement, Suzani found herself becoming a mommy one more time. Her pregnancy and delivery became an unexpected chapter in her rescue journey, but this brave little girl knew exactly what she needed to do. She safely delivered two beautiful little boys and devoted herself to raising them until they were strong and ready to begin their own lives.
Now her puppy days are officially behind herāand Suzaniās happily-ever-after can finally begin! ā¤ļø
After completing her mommy duties, Suzani had her spay and dental surgeries. She recovered beautifully and, amazingly, she didnāt even lose any teeth during her dental! She is now healthy, fully vetted, and ready to find the loving forever home that she has waited so patiently for.
š Meet Suzani
Suzani is a 9-pound Yorkie with a very sweet, gentle, and easygoing personality. She is generally a quiet little girl who enjoys the simple things in life: a soft dog bed, a cozy nap, being near her people, and getting lots of affection.
She loves attention but isnāt demanding about it. Suzani is perfectly happy sitting beside you, soaking up your love and enjoying some well-earned belly rubs. She has discovered that there are apparently many, MANY wonderful dog beds in the world and has made it her personal mission to try them all! š
After moving through several foster homes during her rescue journeyāincluding homes where she could safely deliver and raise her puppies, recover from medical procedures, and finally settle into life after motherhoodāSuzani has become quite familiar with the foster-home experience. She has handled all of these changes with a sweet and resilient spirit.
Now we would love nothing more than for her next move to be her last move.
š¾ Her Pack
Suzani absolutely loves being around other dogs. She enjoys hanging out with her canine friends and is very comfortable being part of a pack. She is not looking to be the center of attention and is content simply being near everyone.
She also does wonderfully around cats and generally pays no attention to them.
She would be happy in a home with other friendly dogs or as your one-and-only spoiled little girl, as long as she has plenty of love and companionship.
š³ Critter Patrol!
Donāt let her quiet personality fool youāSuzani does have a job to do!
When she is outside with her pack, she enjoys going on ācritter patrol.ā Squirrels and bunnies are apparently serious business, and Suzani takes her responsibility of monitoring the yard very seriously. She will occasionally bark to alert her foster mom that she is on duty and doing her part to protect the household. š¤£
For the most part, however, she is a relatively quiet Yorkie and isnāt a constant barker.
āļø Storms Are Not Her Favorite
One thing her forever family will need to understand about Suzani is that storms can make her anxious. She seems to know when bad weather is approaching and may become restless even with heavy rain. Thunder and fireworks are particularly unsettling for her.
Her foster mom helps her through these moments by reassuring her that she is safe and providing a calm environment. Turning on the television or music to help muffle some of the loud booms can also be helpful.
Suzani will need a family who understands that these fears arenāt something to punish or dismiss. She simply needs reassurance, patience, and the security of knowing her people are there for her.
š” Potty Training
Suzaniās potty training is still a work in progress. She has made progress, but her forever family will need to continue working with her patiently as she adjusts to a new routine and new surroundings.
Storms can make this more challenging, and during bad weather she may need the option of using potty pads indoors.
Her family should be prepared for a transition period and understand that accidents may happen while she learns the routines and expectations of her new home. With consistency, patience, and positive reinforcement, we hope she will continue to improve.
š½ļø Mealtime
Suzani can be a typical picky Yorkie when it comes to food. She knows what she likesāand sheās not afraid to have an opinion about it!
She especially enjoys freeze-dried raw toppers such as Rawbble or Open Farm and doesnāt mind a little bone broth added from time to time.
She also prefers having her own quiet space at mealtime, away from the other dogs. Giving her a peaceful place to eat allows her to relax and enjoy her meal without competition or distractions.
šļø The Great Dog Bed Debate
If there is one thing Suzani has proven during her time in foster care, it is that choosing the perfect dog bed is serious business. š
Her preferred sleeping spot seems to change from time to time, and her foster family has enjoyed watching her decide which cozy bed is todayās winner.
After spending so much of the past several months moving through different foster homes for her pregnancy, delivery, medical care, surgery, and recovery, it seems only fitting that Suzani should finally have a home filled with all the cozy beds she could ever want.
ā¤ļø What Suzani Needs
Suzani is looking for a patient, loving, and understanding forever family who will allow her time to transition into her new life.
Although she is sweet and easygoing, she has experienced a tremendous amount of change in a relatively short period of time. Her new family will need to understand that she may need some time to realize that this is truly home.
She doesnāt need an adventurous or complicated life.
She needs LOVE.
She needs a soft place to sleep, a safe yard to explore, a family who will let her be close, and someone who will happily provide belly rubs whenever she asks.
She needs people who will understand that at 7 years old, after raising one last litter of puppies, she has earned the right to slow down and simply enjoy being someoneās beloved companion.
Most of all, she needs a family who will promise her that she will never have to start over again.
Suzani has done her job. She raised her babies, completed her medical care, and handled every transition that rescue life has asked of her.
Now itās time for her to be someoneās baby. š
Suzani is up to date on vaccines, current on heartworm prevention, spayed, and has completed her dental. She is healthy and ready to start her new life.
She loves other dogs, ignores cats, enjoys being outside, appreciates a good nap, and absolutely loves being close to her people.
At approximately 9 pounds, she is the perfect little Yorkie packageāand after everything this sweet girl has been through, we know her happily-ever-after is out there.
Suzani is ready. Her bags are packed. Her puppies have grown up. Her medical journey is complete.
Now all she needs is a family to love her for the rest of her life. š¾š
