Congratulations! You are now reading the official handbook for Sandra Diaz-Twine, a 3-month-old, 22-pound female Great Pyrenees mix. Before operating your Sandra, please familiarize yourself with the following important information.

Sandra came to PPFT when she was only about a week old, after her mama—who had been abandoned—wandered up to someone’s home and gave birth. So while most one-week-old puppies were busy concentrating on extremely demanding newborn responsibilities such as eating, sleeping, and being shaped vaguely like a potato, Sandra and her siblings were already starting over. Thankfully, those days are behind her. Sandra is now bigger, fluffier, considerably more mobile, and has appointed herself Assistant Manager of Whatever You’re Doing. Your Sandra comes equipped with:

-Four legs specifically designed to follow you around the yard.
-One extremely curious brain that needs to know what you're doing.
-22 pounds of puppy with considerably more pounds scheduled for installation.
-A playful personality that assumes whatever you're doing probably involves her.
-Great Pyrenees genetics, meaning future opinions are almost certainly included.

Sandra's ideal home is best described as: Somewhere things happen. She doesn't require a family that is scaling mountains before breakfast, kayaking at lunch, and running a casual half-marathon before dinner. Her energy level sits around a 6/10, so she has a nice balance. But Sandra definitely seems like the kind of puppy who could grow into an adventure buddy. She is adventurous. She isn't intimidated by much. Basically, if Sandra sees a large rock on a future hiking trail, there is an excellent chance her first thought will be: "I bet I can get on top of that." And then you will have approximately three seconds to prepare yourself before she attempts it. Once she's old enough for longer adventures, her foster family thinks she could really enjoy hiking and exploring with her people. But Sandra doesn't require nonstop entertainment, either. Give her a bone and somewhere comfortable to hang out, and she's perfectly capable of enjoying a quiet evening at home. The important distinction here is: Sandra can relax. Sandra probably cannot be expected to spend every waking hour with absolutely nothing to do and continue making responsible life choices. Because boredom + intelligent puppy = Sandra creates her own enrichment program. And management would like to make it abundantly clear that you may not enjoy the activities she selects. Sandra has conducted extensive research into several forms of water. SPRINKLER: Excellent. 10/10. HOSE: Also excellent. KIDDIE POOL: Approved. ACTUAL SWIMMING POOL: Sandra has reviewed the proposal and declined to participate. Apparently there is a very specific amount of water Sandra considers recreational, and the swimming pool has exceeded the approved limit. Sandra likes toys. She likes bones. She likes playing. Fetch remains an undetermined feature, mostly because nobody has gathered sufficient data regarding whether Sandra believes retrieving something you deliberately threw away is a sensible use of her time.

Sandra LOVES kids. So a family with children could be a fantastic fit for this happy, social girl. Given her confidence, playfulness, and desire to be involved in absolutely everything, Sandra would probably be delighted to discover that her new home comes equipped with small humans who also enjoy doing unnecessary things in the yard. Sandra has spent her entire life surrounded by littermates, so another playful dog in her forever home would likely be a huge bonus. Now, Sandra considers every dog a friend. Thankfully, Sandra actually does a good job respecting boundaries once another dog tells her they're not interested. But will she occasionally attempt negotiations first? Absolutely.
Dog: "No."
Sandra: "Okay, but have you considered that I'm adorable?"
Dog: "Still no."
Sandra: "What if I approach from this angle?"
Dog: GRUMBLE. Sandra: "Understood. I will be over here should you reconsider."
She isn't looking for trouble. She simply has tremendous confidence in her ability to convince the grumpy members of society that they're making a terrible mistake by not befriending her. Sandra has not met cats yet. Some puppies meet a new person and think: "Who are you? Why are you here? I require time to process this."
Sandra meets a new person and thinks: "Excellent. Another person who can pet me." She is confident when meeting new people and naturally assumes they have been looking forward to this moment. And really, why wouldn't they be?
Please remember proper Sandra greeting etiquette:
Step One: Meet Sandra.
Step Two: Pet Sandra.
Step Three: Congratulations, you followed instructions.
Failure to complete Step Two may result in Sandra staring at you as though you're the first person in history to misunderstand how introductions work.

Sandra has currently completed approximately one official walk. Sandra apparently did not realize that "going for a walk" meant attaching a leash to her body and then expecting her to simply proceed like this was a perfectly normal arrangement. But once the rest of the pack got moving, Sandra realized: "Ohhhh. We're ALL doing this." And off she went. She settled into the walk very nicely and followed the pack. Because she's still young and Oklahoma has apparently decided the outdoors should resemble the surface of the sun, about 0.75 miles was plenty for her. For a first outing? Pretty darn good. Does Sandra chew things she shouldn't. Her foster's answer "She is a puppy. We feel this is both extremely concise and legally sufficient. Sandra is three months old. The world is her oyster. Sandra is doing really well with potty training for her age. Sandra currently knows sit. Overall, Sandra is one of those puppies who seems to have received an extra scoop of confidence at the factory. She's smart. She's playful. She's adventurous. She adores kids. She enjoys other dogs and would probably love having a canine buddy. She likes water—as long as we're discussing Sandra-approved quantities of water. She follows her people around because whatever they're doing is obviously worth investigating. She's confident with strangers because strangers are really just future Sandra fans who haven't completed orientation yet.

Now, if you have read the entire handbook about Sandra, fallen hopelessly in love with Sandra, mentally purchased Sandra a hiking harness, assigned Sandra a spot on the couch, and possibly informed your current dog that they're getting a sibling its time to fill out the adoption app. Commenting "WANT!" does not count. Sending us a message saying "Is she available?" does not count. Telling us that you have "always wanted a fluffy white dog" does not count. Tagging your spouse with "BABE 😭😭😭" is an important first step in household negotiations, but regrettably…also not an application. You must actually submit an adoption application for Sandra Diaz-Twine. Once you do, and if your application is received, we can send it over to Sandra's foster family so they can review it and determine whether Sandra agrees that your household deserves the privilege of becoming her permanent tribe.
