Meet gary

Meet Gary, a 3-year-old, 65-pound sweetheart who is affectionate, gentle, and happiest when he is close to his people. This handsome boy came to BARCS as a stray, and his time in a foster home has quickly confirmed what his finder first noticed: Gary absolutely loves people and would happily accept pets from just about anyone willing to give them.Gary can make quite the first impression. When he first arrived in his foster home, he was a big, energetic bundle of excitement, eager to explore his new surroundings and meet everyone he encountered. As he has settled in, though, his foster has seen a much softer side emerge. These days, Gary is calm, relaxed, and wonderfully affectionate. He loves nothing more than curling up beside his people and soaking up attention, and his foster says he absolutely LOVES cuddling. Whether he`s stretched out on the couch or enjoying some quiet time with his family, being near his people is clearly one of his favorite things.Gary has excellent house manners. He has had no accidents in his foster home and is doing wonderfully with housetraining. He also does very well when left alone. Rather than getting into trouble, Gary can often be found lounging comfortably on the couch when his foster returns home. He`s proving to be a remarkably easygoing houseguest who knows how to settle in and relax.Gary is also a dream on leash. He walks without pulling and enjoys taking his time sniffing bushes and exploring the world around him. People are especially exciting because Gary believes just about everyone he sees might be his next best friend. He happily greets strangers and is always hoping they`ll stop for some pets. He has met both men and children while out walking and has had wonderful interactions with them. He is also interested and excited when he sees other dogs, so thoughtful introductions would be important if he were to meet potential canine friends. One of the sweetest things about Gary is how tuned in he is to his people. He seems to have developed his own little system for checking in before doing something. Before jumping onto the couch or following his foster upstairs, he`ll often look back at them and wait for permission. Once he gets the `okay,` he happily follows along—and if he`s rewarded with plenty of pets for listening, even better. He is becoming more comfortable with basic cues and is getting better at `sit.`Gary isn`t particularly motivated by traditional dog treats, eve
