Hi there, I’m Walter!I’m a handsome 6-year-old fella weighing in at a sturdy 64 pounds, and I’m the kind of guy who believes life is better when you take it easy. I’m calm, easygoing, and pretty darn polite! I don’t jump up on people, and I rarely bark. I’m also housetrained and crate trained, so I’ve got my good-dog manners down pat.One of my favorite things? Hanging out with other dogs! I’m great with my canine friends and enjoy having some company around. I’m just a laid-back guy looking for a family where I can settle in, feel safe, and be your loyal sidekick.There are a couple things I need my folks to know. Cats and I aren’t a match, so I need a home without them. And because I enjoy having a little room to stretch my legs and sniff around, a securely fenced yard is a must.If you’re looking for a calm, sweet, well-mannered companion who’s ready to be part of the family, I might just be your guy. Come meet me, I’ve got plenty of love to give!***FOSTER TO ADOPT***Walter is heartworm positive and is currently going through treatment. Once his treatment is complete, the adoption can be finalized. It is the responsibility of the adoptive family to get a microfilaria test 30 days after treatment for a preliminary result and a heartworm test 9 months after treatment for final results. During treatment, you will need to make sure his heart rate is not elevated due to high energy play or exercise until he receives a negative microfilaria test and is cleared by a veterinarian. Walter will also need continued use of monthly heartworm preventives going forward. This will all be covered by Warrior Dog until his last injection. Any other medical needs will be the responsibility of the adopter. --------------------------------------------All our Warrior Dogs will have all age appropriate medical care and vaccines, a microchip, and spayed/neutered if the dog is over 6 months of age at the time of adoption. Please note that the majority of our dogs in rescue are from shelters where they have been found as strays or abandoned. Their breed description is based on our very best educated guess based on physical characteristics and their dispositions.
