Hi! I`m Dirk, a 5 year old Terrier and weigh 16lbs. I`m an experienced investigator with a very important job: sniffing everything. My foster takes me on daily walks, and I take my time checking out all the smells along the way. I may have a walking buddy who likes to prance ahead, but I prefer to enjoy the journey at my own pace.I`ve met big dogs, little dogs, and cats, and I`m happy to report that I like them all! I`m also great with both male and female dogs. Older kids are okay by me, too.When I`m home, I`m happiest following my person around, getting lots of pets, and hoping a treat might magically appear. I`m house trained and crate trained, although if you give me the choice, I`ll take a cozy bed over a kennel any day. I`m a neat guy and don`t make a habit of tearing things up.I`ve had a little bit of a makeover since arriving. My fur was pretty matted when I came in, so it`s a little sparse in spots right now, but I`m looking quite handsome and my coat is getting better with regular brushing. I actually enjoy being brushed every few days, so I`m happy to cooperate with my beauty routine!I`m also a serious chowhound. If you put food in front of me, there`s a very good chance I`ll be interested. My solid build and shiny coat might give you a clue about how much I appreciate a good meal.I do get a little worried when my person leaves and may bark for a bit, but having my canine pal around, along with some reassurance and love, helps me settle down. Once I know everything is okay, I can relax and wait quietly for my person to return.I`m just 5 years old, which means I`ve still got plenty of walks to sniff, treats to enjoy, beds to lounge in, and—most importantly—love to share.I`m Dirk, and I`m ready to investigate my way right into your heart.
