Meet mocha
This sweet girl is Mocha. I recently adopted her just 10 days ago and while I would love more than anything to keep her - but I don't have the proper funding to get her the training that she needs. She was found as a stray so her history is unknown, but she was clearly not introduced to this world properly and struggles with meeting new people.
She barks and lunges out of fear/anxiety at new humans and I am worried that this could turn into a situation where my roommates don't feel safe or I am unable to have new people at my home. While she has been incredibly sweet to me since day one of meeting her at the shelter, I have come to find out that it is very common practice for shelters - especially IHS - to give this more anxious dogs calming drugs to make them appear more adoptable.
If you have the resources to build her confidence with professional help, I urge you to consider taking her into your home. I will provide all of items I have for her in addition to the free adoption.
