Gertrude is proof that sometimes the sweetest dogs are the ones who don't ask for much. 💕

This beautiful girl is a 6-year-old Beagle/Hound mix weighing around 42 pounds who is looking for a family to enjoy the simple things in life with.

Gertrude came to Hooves and Paws as an owner surrender from Pittsylvania Animal Shelter in Southern Virginia. She's an incredibly sweet, mellow, and carefree girl who seems happiest just being around her people.

She does wonderfully with other dogs and has an easygoing personality that makes her a joy to have around. She hasn't been cat tested yet, but she has been very comfortable around both dogs and people.

Gertrude is also an excellent car rider, so if you're looking for a companion who would happily join you on adventures, she's your girl! 🚗🐾

She's a little on the chunky side and could stand to lose a few pounds, but we're confident that some walks, playtime, and a healthy diet will have her feeling her best in no time.

And if you're looking for a quiet companion—Gertrude is your girl! She's wonderfully calm and quiet and would be perfectly happy lounging around the house with her family.

Gertrude is currently being treated for Ehrlichia, but she is heartworm negative and otherwise ready to find her forever family.
