7/7/26 Oakley Update Hi everyone! Oakley Checking in! Since coming into foster care, we've been working with the veterinary team to figure out a few medical issues. I recently saw an internal medicine specialist, and we're continuing to search for the cause of my excessive thirst and frequenturination. My Cushing's test came back negative, and I'm currently taking medication for diabetes insipidus, although we're still not sure if that's the reason I was drinking so much water. The specialist repeated bloodwork to evaluate my kidneys and make sure my medication isn't causing any problems. They also collected another urine culture to check for infection. One encouraging sign is that my urine isn't as diluted as it was during my first visit. The vet isn't sure why I initially drank less water after starting medication but is not happy that my intake has increased again. My foster mom will continue monitoring how much I drink, and we should have the latest test results by the end of the week. The good news is that I'm itching much less since receiving my allergy injection, and I've also been switched to a limited-ingredient diet just in case food allergies are contributing to the problem. Despite everything, I'm doing really well! If my foster family is gone for more than three hours, I wear a diaper, and I don't mind it one bit. In fact, I've only had one accident in the house in the past three weeks, which is a huge improvement! I've also been getting out and enjoying life. I had a great time strolling through Petco and loved meeting all the new people. Next up, I'll be trying doggie daycare to see how I like making some new canine friends. There are only a couple of things I'm not a fan offireworks and thunderstorms, but otherwise, I'm still the same sweet girl everyone loves. I continue to get along wonderfully with my foster sister, Lynn, and I'm enjoying every day as we work toward getting me feeling my very best. I'll keep you posted as we learn more from my test results! 5/3/2026 Hi everyone! Im Oakley and I just turned 11 yrs old. I lived in Missouri with my family until they gave me to someone else. I dont know why they gave me away. Then the new person put my picture on facebook and said free to a good home. Luckily a neighbor found out what was going on and could tell I wasnt being fed properly so they called a rescue group in Illinois. The rescue group picked me up and took care of me until I could be transported to L.E.A.R.N. in Wisconsin. Im so glad Im here! I get plenty of food, treats, love and I get to play with the lab who lives here! I went to the vet because one of my dew claws was torn. She removed it and bandaged it up. I was a very good patient and the bandage doesnt bother me so I just leave it alone. The vet said I look really good for an 11 yr old! So far all test results are good! I just need to gain a little weight. Ive only been here a week so my foster family is still getting to know me. So far they said Im very sweet and I have beautiful eyes and fox red coat! Im house and crate trained. I ride great in the car. I like to chase the tennis ball and run around the yard. Stay tuned for updates!
