Meet Aussie — a 6-month-old Australian Shepherd! 🐾

Aussie is a beautiful, highly intelligent young dog with lots of energy. We are looking for an active and responsible home that will provide her with exercise, continued training, and patient guidance as she learns more about the world.

Aussie:

* shows no aggression,
* does not guard food, toys, or other resources,
* gets along well with both small and large dogs,
* is good with cats,
* loves people,
* is extremely intelligent and learns new things very quickly,
* is comfortable spending time in a crate,
* would do best in a home with children over 8 years old because she is very energetic.

Aussie is quite independent and does not yet really know how to cuddle. She needs time, patience, and a person who will show her that closeness can be safe and enjoyable.

She is about 50% trained on a leash, so she still needs calm and consistent practice. She is not yet used to city life, noise, or busy surroundings, but with the right person, she should adjust quickly.

Aussie does not jump over fences. However, if a gate is left open, she may run away. For this reason, the yard must be securely fenced, and extra caution is needed when opening doors or gates.

Aussie is looking for a home that will provide her with activity, regular walks, training, and continued socialization. In return, she will be a wonderful, loyal, and incredibly smart companion.

We prefer adopters who live within approximately 6 hours of Chicago. The adopter must be able to travel to pick up the dog in person.
