Meet Lily – Every Dog Deserves a Second Chance
Some dogs survive. Others somehow continue to love despite everything they've endured. Lily is one of those extraordinary dogs.
Lily is a 2-year-old, 43lbs English Bulldog who was removed from horrific conditions at the home of a backyard breeder. She spent her life confined to a small cage, forced to live in her own waste, never knowing what it meant to simply be a cherished companion. She wasn't treated like family. She wasn't given the opportunity to just be a dog.
And yet... she still loves people.
Despite her heartbreaking past and sheltered lifestyle, Lily is incredibly happy, sweet, and social. She greets the world with excitement and enthusiasm, making up for lost time every chance she gets. She may not have the best manners just yet—she has a tendency to jump up when she's excited—but considering everything she's missed out on, she's simply thrilled to finally have people who want to spend time with her. With consistency and positive reinforcement, she's eager to learn.
One of the greatest joys has been watching Lily discover toys. It's something she likely never had before, and seeing her happily play is a reminder that she's finally getting to experience the puppyhood she was denied.
Lily seeks affection, loves being around her people, and is always ready for attention. She is comfortable in a crate, as it's unfortunately what she's known for much of her life, but now she deserves so much more than four walls and a closed door.
Because of her enthusiastic, rough-and-tumble play style, Lily would likely not be the best match for a home with small breed dogs or felines. Her excitement is all love—she just doesn't always realize her own strength. We also feel she would do best with older, dog-savvy children, as her exuberance may unintentionally knock over younger kids.
Lily is still learning the basics of life as a beloved family dog. She pulls on a leash because walks are a new adventure, and she'll benefit from continued training and patience as she gains confidence and experience. She is not a candidate for tethering or an invisible fence. After spending so much of her life confined, Lily deserves the freedom and security of being an included member of the family.
As an English Bulldog, Lily is looking for a home with experience caring for brachycephalic breeds. Bulldogs require special consideration during hot and cold weather due to their shortened airways, and her future family should understand the unique needs that come with loving one of these wonderful dogs.
Lily can't change where she came from, but together we can change where she's going.
She's looking for a family that will show her what kindness feels like every single day, celebrate all of her silly quirks, continue teaching her how wonderful life can be, and love her exactly as she deserves—for the rest of her life.
Lily has spent enough time surviving. Now she's ready to start living... with a family that will love her furever.

However, every animal is unique—just as every child and household environment is different.
