Meet Misty! Misty is a gentle little soul with a serious appreciation for sniffing absolutely everything, and a growing confidence that is pretty incredible to watch.

Misty was surrendered to us by her owner. One moment she was in the home she'd always known; the next, she was being handed over to strangers, too small, too old, and too confused to understand what she had done wrong. All she could do was sit there and hope someone would come back for her. But Misty is beginning to discover that maybe she doesn't need to wait for her old life to return. Maybe something even better is ahead.

Misty was understandably timid with people when she first arrived, but there was one thing that made her feel a little more secure: other dogs. She immediately began seeking out her foster siblings, and their presence has helped her worried little heart settle. Her foster family says she would enjoy the company of another sweet dog to show her the way and help her learn to trust her environment. She loves sharing her bed and snuggling with her dog friends, and watching her begin to engage with the bigger dogs in the house has been pretty adorable.

Misty is a curious little girl who wants to know what you're up to and where you are, but she isn't the typical clingy Chihuahua. She'll follow you around to keep you company, then happily maintain a little personal space of her own. She loves to smell all the smells and take in the wonders of the world, whether she's on a neighborhood walk, trotting around the yard, or sniffing her way around the house. She also loves cozy dog beds, and it's unbearably adorable when she falls asleep with her head propped up on something.

Misty is already showing us that she's ready to enjoy the good life. She is housebroken, walks well on leash, and sleeps through the night. She's interested in dog toys and has even started figuring out how to play with her foster siblings.

Like many seniors, Misty takes a joint supplement and needs to be carried up and down stairs. Because she loves exploring outdoors, her forever home will need a fenced yard and someone to take her regular walks. She thrives with regular structure and routine, and gets along well with children, though quick movements can startle her.

Misty is looking for a forever family with loving, patient people who will give her the time and space she needs to build trust at her own pace. In return, she promises to be the cutest, sweetest shadow you'll ever meet.
