Breed: Yorkshire Terrier
Age: Senior gentleman (~13 years)
Weight: 7 lbs. Tiny enough to be carried around in a baby carrier (which he fully supports)
Before OMD: Sid was a stray and found himself needing a soft place to land for his golden years, and we’re determined to make sure the rest of his life is filled with comfy beds, cuddles, and as much love as possible.
Energy Level: Low with occasional bursts of blind Yorkie confidence.
What We Love Most: Sid is a self-assured, funny little guy with plenty of spunk. He confidently pinballs his way down hallways like he owns the place, insists on inspecting any laundry left on the floor, and has perfected the art of looking adorable while being carried around.
What Sid Loves Most: A cozy place to nap, being near his people, and getting pets on demand. Once his affection quota has been met, he’s perfectly happy curling up nearby and simply enjoying your company.
Working On: Honestly? Nothing. Sid is a senior guy and we’re embracing him exactly as he is.
Dogs: Sid has done well with his calm foster brother after a brief adjustment period, but he can be vocal with unfamiliar dogs and would need slow introductions. He also has done well with OMD Evie, a senior Shih Tzu. A calm, respectful dog he can quietly coexist with may be ideal.
Cats: No experience
Kids: Older, respectful children only. Since Sid is blind, sudden and chaotic movements can startle him.
House Trained: Ehh, not really. Sid will go outside, but he also goes when he needs to go. He currently wears a belly band and does best with a predictable routine.
Crate Trained: No. Being blind, confinement is upsetting for him, so he is not crated.
Other Important Things to Know:
- Sid has no teeth and is completely blind, but don’t tell him that.
- He is not interested in toys and isn’t particularly food motivated.
- He knows his name, but commands are beneath him.
- He’ll let you know if he needs something with adorable little whines.
- He sleeps curled up in foster mom’s bed and fully expects this arrangement to continue in his forever home.
- He is happy to be held by absolutely anyone.
Ideal Home: A quieter home where Sid can spend his days lounging in comfort, following his people around, and living his best senior life. A calm canine companion could be a bonus, but it’s not required.
Sid is neutered, vaccinated, heartworm negative, and microchipped. He’s available to residents of IL, CT and surrounding states.
