Meet Romeo!

Romeo is a handsome 3-year-old Poodle weighing around 60 pounds who is looking for a patient family to help him blossom. He can be a little shy at first and is still learning to build trust and feel comfortable in new surroundings. With patience, kindness, and time, Romeo continues to grow in confidence and show his sweet personality.

Romeo gets along well with calmer canine companions and requires a home with another confident, dog-social dog already in the household. Having a gentle canine friend by his side provides reassurance, helps show him the ropes, and gives him the confidence he needs as he adjusts to home life.

Romeo is still mastering his leash skills, so he also requires a securely fenced yard where he can safely explore while continuing to build confidence.

Romeo is looking for a family that understands trust takes time and is willing to let him move at his own pace. With consistency, patience, and positive experiences, he has all the potential to become a loyal and loving companion.

A required in-person meet and greet at our shelter is part of the adoption process to help ensure a good fit for both Romeo, any resident dogs, and his potential adopters.

Many NMDR dogs have had limited prior socialization and may need time, patience, and support as they adjust to home life. Skills such as house training, leash walking, and handling may require continued practice. Progress will vary by individual dog.
