Meet nelson
Nelson is only 11 months old, but it's clear life hasn't been very kind to him so far.
When he arrived at the shelter, the effects of neglect were impossible to miss. Because of a treatable skin condition that went untreated, Nelson is currently completely bald, and his skin is still healing. But if you spend even a few minutes with him, you'll realize that's the least interesting thing about him.
Despite everything he's been through, Nelson is still just a puppy.
He was a little hesitant walking down the shelter row, unsure of what came next. But the moment he stepped outside, his worries seemed to melt away. Out came the wiggly body, the curious nose, and the playful spirit. Suddenly, he was ready to explore the world, make new friends, and soak up every bit of attention he could get.
Nelson happily met another dog, Pixy Jones, and looked like he'd love a playful canine sibling to wrestle and run around with. At just 37 pounds, he's the perfect size for adventures, couch cuddles, and everything in between.
His bald little body may tell the story of where he's been, but his joyful heart tells the story of where he's going. With continued care, good nutrition, and lots of love, his skin can heal and his fur can grow back. What Nelson needs most isn't medicine—it's someone willing to look past his appearance and see the sweet, affectionate puppy underneath.
