Cole has been waiting far too long for his forever family, and we can't understand why. This sweet, goofy guy is one of our longest residents, and he's more than ready to find a place to call home.

Cole's journey hasn't been an easy one. He was originally rescued from euthanasia at a high-intake shelter by another Iowa rescue. When that rescue closed in 2025, Hero's Haven welcomed Cole into our care, and we've been determined to help him find the happy ending he deserves.

Cole is happiest when he has a toy or chew bone in his mouth—you'll rarely catch him without one! He loves playing tug-of-war, wrestling, and hanging out with other playful dogs. After he's gotten his energy out, he's just as content curling up for a cozy nap, making him the perfect mix of playful and laid-back.

This handsome boy has great manners, too. He walks nicely on a leash, rides beautifully in the car (usually snoozing or resting his head on the center console), and is crate trained for bedtime and when home alone. He's also a smart cookie who knows several commands, including sit, down, and roll over. When he needs to go outside, he'll politely let you know by standing at the door or sniffing the floor nearby.

Cole has done well with children. He may be a little shy at first, but give him 30 seconds to a minute, and he'll decide you're his newest best friend. He hasn't been tested with cats yet.

One of our favorite things about Cole? He absolutely loves watching TV! Whether it's an action movie or a nature show, he's happy to settle in beside you for a binge-watching session.
