Coney and her 3 siblings were surrendered to PUP to be re-homed as her rural family was in severe distress with a young child suffering from kidney failure and the family has very tight finances. Coney had missed a few meals but was well socialized and much loved. She loves to be held and cuddled. All 4 pups are very people oriented and eager for as much human time as you are willing to give.

We are making a guess on breed because we have no picture of what mommy or daddy looked like. We suspect she is probably some kind of bully breed and possibly a herder. Nearly all of the dogs from the area have at least a bit of Chihuahua. Dogs from the area usually have 15-30 identifiable breeds so they are quite the mix. We did DNA on one pup from the litter but we dont have the results back yet. We think puppy will be in the upper end of mid-size when full grown but that is best guess and his adopter should be ready to love and cuddle pup if he is larger or smaller than predicted. At her vet appointment on 7-8 she weighed 10.4# and the vet aged her at 11 weeks.

The early months are when puppy learns the social skills needed to be a skilled dog in dealing with other dogs and a good citizen in the human world. Adopters should be committed to getting puppy into lots of new and different human social situations, hearing vacuums, trucks, and rattling garbage cans, meeting people who are clapping, laughing, with hats, tools, bikes and skate boards. AND puppy needs many opportunities to meet and greet dogs of all shapes, sizes and dispositions. Just sharing a home with another dog is not as much doggie socializing as puppy needs. If good canine social skills are not learned and maintained during these early months, it will be very difficult to ever master them. Puppy play dates, trips to the pet store, puppy socialization classes and later, obedience classes are particularly important. If all this doggie time and involvement seems like a good idea, you are up for a puppy! As always, a tired dog is a good dog.

Puppy has been vet checked, is vaccinated, and de-wormed. She will need two additional puppy vaccinations plus rabies at the adopters expense. We do place puppies outside the metro area if a firm plan for the alter surgery is in place; we do not ship. Her required alter surgery is covered by the adoption fee if it is done by 6 months at the PUP clinic. We require that she be altered by 6 months.

If you are at least 21 years old and everyone in your household is on board with adopting a puppy, CALL 651-645-4370 between 7:00 am and 9:30 pm and we will return your call within 24 hours. We are pretty slow at responding to e-mail. Renters must provide proof that you are allowed to have a puppy. If you currently have a companion dog or cat please be prepared to provide a vet reference prior to adoption if requested.
