Meet paquito
Meet Paquito 🐾
Paquito is a 7-year-old Chihuahua who was surrendered when his owner had to move. Through no fault of his own, this sweet senior is now searching for a quiet, loving home where he can spend his golden years feeling safe and cherished.
His previous owner shared that Paquito prefers his personal space, may bark frequently, is not fully potty trained, and would do best in a home with children 12 years and older who can understand and respect his boundaries.
Since arriving at the shelter, however, Paquito has shown us a different side of himself. Staff describe him as a little nervous and shy at first, but he is very easy to handle and has been a calm, cooperative little gentleman. While his mouth is a bit sensitive during handling, he otherwise tolerates care well and has not displayed the behaviors his previous owner described.
Paquito walks nicely, though at his age he takes things slow and would much rather be carried so he can enjoy the view from your arms. He has also done wonderfully sharing a kennel with two other Chihuahuas and previously lived with a large dog. Staff have observed no food or resource guarding, and he has been quietly going potty outside while in our care.
Out of respect for his previous owner's observations, we recommend a home with older, respectful children or adults only who will give him the space he needs when he asks for it 💛🐶
