Meet Menchie. This wee little dude is about 3 years old and less than 7#. He is the daddy dog to one of our litters and after we got him into rescue, we discovered he has hip dysplasia. We want to do an FHO surgery on the bad hip, which will be a huge improvement in his quality of life. But ideally, we want to have him in a forever home, settled and then schedule the surgery at our vet in Arlington WA.

Menchie takes a minute to warm up in a new home, so he will need a patient owner that will give him a couple days to settle in... then he's nothing but a lap dog!! (See video - this is from a new foster home and he totally changed from shy and standoffish, to fun and playful) He loves his people and would enjoy someone who is home more often or can take him on adventures. We are working on better photos - he's a little puff of black crazy fur - and has a silly mohawk. He's getting better on housebreaking, and one foster put him in a belly band until he had the potty routine down. Due to his wee size, we think an adult only home is best.

This dog is neutered, microchipped and fully vaccinated. He is heart worm negative.

The 3-3-3 rule is a guideline for transitioning a rescue dog into its new home and helping it to settle in. It suggests that the first three days should be used for adjusting to its new surroundings, the next three weeks for training and bonding, and the first three months for continued socialization and training.

Each dog goes home with a goody bag including collar/leash, toys, chews, Kong, and more. You will receive all medical records, microchip transfer form and other paperwork at the time of adoption.

Adoptions typically take place in Stanwood. A reduced adoption fee will be discussed with the approved home.

Save-A-Mutt is a foster based rescue, we do not have a facility to visit. Our adoptions are typically done Monday - Saturday, we are closed on Sundays to give our volunteers at least one day off. You must be available to do meets and adoptions during that time frame. We can make exceptions only with the approval of the foster home.

Please note, we have approximately a 300 mile adoption radius - Portland OR area and Vancouver BC is the farthest north. We dont ship dogs, once approved you must pick them up in Snohomish County, WA. Canadian adopters must be able to come to Stanwood WA to pick up your dog.
