Meet luna mae

Meet Luna Mae! Luna Mae is an 18 lbs. schnauzer born 1/31/19 looking for a forever home or foster-to-adopt home in the Chicago area. She is a sweet and gentle girl who just needs the right environment to feel safe and truly shine.Luna May has endured more than any dog ever should—but she's proof that resilience and love can overcome almost anything. After her beloved owner passed away, Luna lost the only home she'd ever known. With no family able to take her in, she entered rescue in search of the second chance she so deserves.Luna's journey began long before that. She was separated from her mother at just six weeks old, leaving her without the confidence and social skills puppies naturally develop. Because of this, she can be shy and fearful in new situations and needs a patient adopter who will let her adjust at her own pace. But once Luna trusts you, her true personality shines. She becomes a loving, loyal companion who wants to be by your side—and nothing makes her happier than chasing her favorite tennis ball!Luna is also an incredible medical success story. After arriving in rescue, she was diagnosed with a congenital liver shunt and underwent successful corrective surgery at the University of Wisconsin. She has made a remarkable recovery and has an excellent long-term prognosis. She also has congenital aortic stenosis, a heart condition that requires periodic monitoring, but it certainly doesn't slow her down.Luna's ideal home is calm and patient with no reactive or dominant dogs. An experienced dog or Schnauzer owner is preferred. She does not do stairs and needs a home with 1 level living. Luna Mae is spayed, up to date on vaccinations and microchipped.
