Meet koda

My name is Koda and I’m looking for my forever home. I am 5 y.o. and weigh 27 lbs. I was rescued from a commercial breeding facility and transferred to SIRA because I needed medical care. I tested positive for heartworms and had a really bad knee (severe luxating patella). The heartworms were the first priority, and I was such a good boy during treatment. The medicine is pretty yucky and I had to be really patient and really calm for a long, long time. Once the heartworms were gone, I could have my knee surgery, which meant that I had to stay really patient and really calm for a while longer. Sigh… It was so hard! But I foster mom says that I was such a good boy. Now that my knee is healed and I’m no longer in pain, I can run and play with the other dogs, which I love to do. I also like seeing how far I can throw my toys when I’m playing indoors. I can be skittish around loud noises and shy of humans at first (you would be too if you came from a place like I did). But once I get to know you, my silly and affectionate side comes out. I love being petted and will be your bff forever if you have cheese (especially the expensive stuff). I’m a good boy in the house – potty trained and not destructive. I love other dogs and am very patient even with the crazy puppies. I’ve don’t mind cats (I leave them alone) and I was around some kids for a short time and did not mind them either. Overall, I’m a pretty easy-going dude. Except for baths. Let’s just say I’m not a fan. My perfect forever home will have patient humans who understand that I may be shy and cautious at first. They should have at least one resident dog who can help me adapt and be my friend. I’d love to have a securely fenced yard, but I’ll do okay on leash with a bit of practice. I’m neutered and up-to-date on vaccinations. I’m currently being fostered in Jonesburg, MO. If you live in the Midwest and are interested in me, visit www.savingshibas.com/adopt for more information and to apply to become an approved SIRA adopter. The application process helps SIRA learn more about you so they can tell if we’ll be a good match. Once approved, they’ll introduce you to my foster mom so we can meet.
