Unfortunately for Lilly, reality disagrees.Lilly is a lovable goofball with the heart and mindset of a tiny puppy packed into a much larger body. She's sweet, affectionate, playful, and always ready to be part of whatever you're doing. Whether she's romping around with dog friends or lounging in the grass after a play session, Lilly approaches life with enthusiasm and joy.Lilly came to the NHSPCA through no fault of her own. When her family was faced with an emergency move and could no longer keep her, they worked hard to find a long-term foster placement. When those efforts weren't successful, they made the difficult decision to bring her to us, hoping we could help her find her next chapter. Please know that Lilly has not lived with cats. Since arriving, Lilly has been a wonderful guest. She's social and playful with other dogs, enjoying both on- and off-leash interactions. She loves a good game with her canine friends, but she's equally happy to stretch out in the grass and relax when playtime is over.Like many young-at-heart dogs, Lilly is still working on a few life skills. She can get excited and occasionally forget that she's not a 15-pound puppy, which means she may jump up to say hello or come on a little strong when she's excited. Her previous owner described her perfectly: Lilly doesn't always know how to calm her big body. The good news? She's eager to engage with people, already knows commands like "sit" and "off," and has tons of potential for continued training.Lilly could also benefit from shedding a few pounds. She was previously free-fed, so we're helping her learn that meals come in appropriate portions rather than an all-you-can-eat buffet. A family committed to regular exercise, training, and healthy habits will help her feel her best.Her favorite things include chewing on bones, spending time with her people, playing with dog friends, and being involved in the action. She's lived with babies and toddlers in the past, though because of her size and enthusiasm, any interactions with young children should be appropriately supervised.If you're looking for a loyal sidekick, a goofy best friend, and a dog who will make you laugh every single day, Lilly might be your perfect match.
