Meet memphis
If more owners could see the destruction of leaving their dogs behind maybe we wouldn’t have so many surrenders.
Memphis was destroyed. His eyes were saucers and red. His tail was tucked and his head down but still searching. The terror of being put back into a cage had him jumping into our arms while looking for a blanket for him. Thankfully Memphis is coming around and acting more like the pup he really is. Big dogs get big heartbreaks too.
Chicago Animal Care and Control is located at 2741 S. Western Ave., Chicago, IL, and is open from 12pm to 7pm daily. Walk-in visitors are welcome and helped on a first-come, first-served basis. If you are planning to adopt the day you visit, please plan to arrive before 5:30pm. Visitors arriving after 5:30pm will still be able to view animals in Pavilions A-B-C until 7pm.
All dogs will be spayed/neutered and vaccinated before adoption.
All household members should be present to meet dogs (especially those under 18 and any decision-makers).
We recommend and can arrange dog-to-dog meet and greets for your current dog(s) to meet a potential dog sibling at the shelter. You will need to show proof of up-to-date rabies vaccination for your dog(s). Slow, cautious, and appropriate introductions are recommended after you allow time for decompression for the shelter dog.
