My name is Max and I’m looking for my forever home! I’m 7 y.o. and weigh 33 lbs. I came to my foster home here in Farmington, MO, from a shelter. I was dumped there after my original owner sold me to someone who then tried to re-sell me online, but couldn’t. So yeah, I’ve been through a lot. I was so scared and sad and confused! But things are better once SIRA came to get me. My foster mom promised that none of this was my fault and that humans would never let me down again. Now that I realize I’m safe here, I’ve started to relax. I love to go for walks and to play fetch and tug. I’ll toss my toys in the air sometimes to play with them. I’m really good at tearing apart squeaky toys to get at the squeaker. And I really like attention from my foster family, especially belly rubs and petting. I’m not a lap dog, but I like snuggling up right next to my human. There aren’t any kids here and my foster mom says little ones are probably not a good match for me since I am easily startled and might nip. I don’t live with other dogs, but I am excited to see them when we go outside. I get really uncomfortable when they try to sniff my butt, though. There is a cat here and I’m a very good boy – I am never aggressive and I don’t chase. I’m a good boy in the house – no accidents and I don’t need to be crated. I haven’t chewed on anything I’m not supposed to (just dog toys) and I haven’t tried to get into the trash. I’m not a fan of having my nails trimmed, so foster mom asked the vet to do it. My perfect forever family will have experience with shy/fearful dogs and patience if it takes me a little while to feel safe. Foster mom thinks I’d do best as an only dog, since I can be reactive to other dogs getting too close. I’m neutered and vaccinated – healthy and ready to find my happily ever after!
