HOW TO ADOPT: This dog is available for adoption by appointment. To schedule a time to meet this dog, please email meetme@arl-iowa.org.---- Came from a situation where she did not get the socialization and exposure to the world that dogs typically get from a young age; because of this, she may struggle with new situations, show uncertainty with novel everyday objects, need help understanding leashes, and need patience and structure with housetraining. - Needs time to warm up to new people, but once she does, she's a snuggly lap dog with her favorites - Very playful once she's comfortable; also loves to explore the yard and play in the sun - Making good progress with leash training and potty training in her foster home - Has been doing well with the kids in her foster home, but a home with young, very active children may be too much for her - Did well with dogs in her foster home and has done best with a "helper" dog when it comes to learning that people can be OK; we recommend that she go to a home with another dog The ARL's shelter software requires that we choose a primary breed for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most dogs we are only guessing at primary breed.
